Title

Glow in the dark stickers.
Problem Scenario
the problem scenario is to find out

Broad Question

how much light is in glow in the dark stickers?

Specific Question

Does the amount of light affect the amount of light in glow in the dark stickers?

Hypothesis

My hypothesis is that the less amount of room light will affect the amount light that is giving off the glow sticker.

Variables

Independent Variable:

My independent variable is the room light.

Dependent Variable:

My dependent variable is the glow in the dark stickers.
Variables That Need To Be Controlled:
Variables the need to be controlled is the light that comes off the glow in the dark stickers
Vocabulary List That Needs Explanation

General Plan

What I am going to do for my project is to take my glow in the dark stickers and put one of the glow in the dark stickers in a dark box with a light sensor on it and no room light at all and then i am going to put another glow in the dark sticker in a box that has some room light with a light sensor on top of the glow in the dark sticker just like the other box with no light at all in it. That is how i will get my data for how much of a difference does the light effect the glow in the dark sticker.

Potential Problems And Solutions

the light sensor can possibly fall off the stickers we are tying to get the amount of light that is coming off the stickers

Safety Or Environmental Concernsexternal image c.gif

There are no safety concerns.

Experimental Design

Number Of Comparison Categories:
i will be comparing two different things which is
the amount of light that comes off of the glow in the dark sticker when it is just in the plain dark, and how much light comes off of the glow in the dark sticker when there is some room light
Number of Comparison Samples:
The number of samples that i have done are 5 for each one 5 for room light and 5 for no light.

Number Of Observation In Each Sample:

for each comparison i will be measuring two things which is the amount of light that comes off of the glow in the dark sticker when it is just in the plain dark, and how much light comes off of the glow in the dark sticker when there is some room light

When data will be collected

My data has been collected it was collected on March 12, 2013 and i just now have to put my Data in a data graph/ table.

Where will data be collected?:

my data will be collected at my house now that i have gone pass the time i can do my experiment in class because i could not find my materials.

Detailed Procedure

I am going to get the materials such as The glow stickers, box, vernier light sensor, and the lab quest and get thoughs and then i am going to take the box put a sticker in the box and put the light sensor on the sticker in the box and leave it there overnight so i can get a more accurate answer to how much light is produced off of the sticker than i am going to take another sticker and set it in the room light and make sure the light sensor stays on it over night for the same reason.

Results
My experiment was the effect of how much light comes off of the glow in the dark stickers and i figured out that the amount of light that comes off of the glow in the dark sticker is more in the dark than it is in the light because its glow in the dark so it does not give off as much light when its around light.

Conclusion

My conclusion is that i followed what i was planning on doing and it did work perfectly but i had guessed that it would have it so that more light would come off of the glow in the dark stickers that were in the dark with no light at all and less light would come off of the glow in the dark stickers that were put in the room light and the room is already providing enough light so barely any light comes off of the sticker because it already "thinks" that there is enough light to support the room, and that is exactly what happened because if you think about it, it would make a lot of sense because why would you need the glow in the dark sticker's light if you wouldn't be able to see it anyways.
